Arsenal returned to winning ways with what ended up being a hard-fought 2–1 victory over WSL strugglers Liverpool.
The hosts dominated the early stages and were rewarded in the 16th minute. Olivia Smith opened the scoring with a superb solo effort. She picked up the ball from deep, skipped past three defenders, and fired into the bottom corner from distance. It was only her second league goal of the season.
Liverpool responded on 30 minutes through Beata Olsson, who timed her run perfectly to beat the offside trap and coolly slot into the bottom corner. The Swede became the first player to score in four of her first five WSL starts.
Arsenal controlled proceedings thereafter, dominating possession and chances but struggling to break down Liverpool’s organised defence. The breakthrough finally came in the 87th minute when Emily Fox’s long pass found Blackstenius, who took a touch and rifled home from the edge of the area to secure all three points.
The result keeps Arsenal within reach of the Champions League places, while Liverpool’s winless season continues.

Everton delivered the shock of the weekend with a 1–0 win over Chelsea at Kingsmeadow, ending the hosts’ 34-match unbeaten run in the WSL.
The game’s only goal came in the 12th minute, when Honoka Hayashi arrived late at the far post to meet Antionette Oyedupe Payne’s driven ball across the box, smashing it beyond Livia Peng.
Chelsea dominated from that point on. However, Courtney Brosnan denied them time and again with a series of excellent saves. The Blues struck the woodwork five times and created numerous chances but lacked the clinical edge in front of goal.
Despite sustained second-half pressure, including a flurry of late corners in added time, Everton held firm to claim just their second league win of the season.
The result sees Chelsea fall six points off the top of the WSL table, a rare setback for a side more accustomed to leading from the front. Everton, meanwhile, gain a vital win as they look to push themselves clear of the relegation battle.
