Manchester City had to come from behind to claim a 2–1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
The visitors stunned the hosts when Fran Kirby (14′) struck against the run of play, finishing smartly from Maddi McLaughlan’s cut-back after City keeper Khiara Keating had parried a shot from Michelle Agyemang. City dominated possession and created chances either side of half-time, but Brighton’s back line held firm to frustrate the home side.
The breakthrough arrived just before the hour when Khadija “Bunny” Shaw (58′) powered in a diving header at the far post to haul City level. With momentum finally on their side, City pressed relentlessly and completed the turnaround through Yui Hasegawa (74′), the Japanese midfielder coolly slotting home from close range to seal the points.

Arsenal shrugged off an early scare to dismantle West Ham 5–1 in a commanding away performance.
The Hammers struck first after just five minutes when keeper Daphne van Domselaar, under no pressure, turned a looping cross into her own net to hand the hosts a surprise lead.
The Gunners kept their composure and quickly took control. Frida Maanum (21′) levelled with a precise finish after neat link-up between Alessia Russo and Beth Mead. After the break, Arsenal’s dominance was finally reflected in the scoreline. Stina Blackstenius (52′) fired them ahead with a clinical strike, before Caitlin Foord (62′) rose to head home Mariona Caldentey’s pinpoint delivery from a well-worked corner.
With West Ham struggling to cope, Russo sealed the win with a late double (90′, 90′+3 pen) – first rifling in from the edge of the box, then calmly dispatching a stoppage-time penalty she had won herself. Arsenal’s second-half blitz left the hosts reeling, and underlined why Jonas Eidevall’s side are already looking like serious title contenders.

Chelsea overcame a spirited Aston Villa side to secure a 3–1 win at Villa Park.
Aggie Beever-Jones (22′) opened the scoring with a close-range header, somewhat against the run of play, before Ebony Salmon (34′) curled in a sublime equaliser from Chasity Grant’s cut-back to bring Villa level. The hosts grew in confidence, but former Villan Hannah Hampton produced key saves to keep the scoreline even at the break.
After half-time, Chelsea reasserted control. A speculative effort from Keira Walsh (55′), heading wide before deflecting off Bo Kearns, restored their lead after Villa failed to clear a corner. The home side pushed for another equaliser, but Chelsea’s defensive pairing of Millie Bright and Nathalie Björn stood firm. In stoppage time, Sam Kerr (90′+3) killed the contest, finishing at the third attempt after another corner caused chaos in the Villa box.

Sun 14th Sep 25 | King Power

Leicester City pulled off the upset of the weekend, snatching a 1–0 win over Liverpool in a classic smash-and-grab at the King Power.
Down to ten players after Aileen O’Brien was sent off for a 2nd bookable offence on 55 minutes, the Foxes stunned their opponents just moments later when veteran Emily van Egmond (59′) looped in a header from close range. Remarkably, it proved Leicester’s only shot on target all match.
From there it was all about resilience. Liverpool dominated possession (74%) and registered nine shots to Leicester’s two, but could not break through a disciplined back line. Sari Kees and Celeste Boureille were immense at the heart of the defence, while captain Sam Tierney marshalled a tireless rearguard that delivered Leicester’s first points of the season – and left Liverpool frustrated once again.

Manchester United delivered an emphatic 5–1 demolition of WSL newcomers London City Lionesses.
United struck early when Maya Le Tissier (3′) converted from the spot after Melvine Malard was hauled down by Fernandez. The hosts looked lively and created openings, but any hopes of levelling were dashed when Jayde Riviere (33′) arrowed in a stunning strike from an improbable angle.
The contest was effectively over within five minutes of the restart as Malard (47′, 50′) netted twice in quick succession – first finishing coolly one-on-one, then heading home at the back post to make it four goals in two games for the French striker. Former United forward Nikita Parris (76′) grabbed a consolation with a well-placed header, before Jess Park (87′) capped the rout with a curling effort into the top corner.
The result leaves London City with nine goals conceded from their opening two fixtures – a stark reminder of the step up required in the WSL – while United’s attacking depth continues to shine.

Sun 14th Sep 25 | Goodison Park

Tottenham Hotspur maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2–0 win at Goodison Park, making it six points from six under new manager Martin Ho.
Olga Ahtinen (27′) opened the scoring, calmly finding the bottom corner after a clever flick from Cathinka Tandberg. Just after the restart, Tandberg – making her first start for the club – introduced herself in stunning fashion, lobbing Courtney Brosnan from 40 yards (49′) with an outrageous strike that will be an early frontrunner for Goal of the Season.
Everton, buoyed by four goals on the opening weekend, struggled to replicate that cutting edge. Despite enjoying spells of possession, they mustered only a single shot on target. Brosnan produced several important saves to keep the scoreline respectable, but Spurs’ control and attacking sharpness secured a second successive win and clean sheet.
