The new-look UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage is set – and the draw has delivered some blockbuster clashes in the league phase.
Reigning champions Arsenal face a tough first test as they come up against French champions and eight-time UWCL winners OL Lyon, while last season’s beaten finalists Barcelona meet reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in another mouth-watering matchday one tie.
There are big games throughout the phase, including Chelsea vs Barcelona on Matchday 4 – with the Blues desperate to exact revenge after their 8-2 semi-final stuffing last season.
Top four teams automatically qualify for the quarter-finals, while those finishing 5th–12th enter a two-legged play-off to join them. Full details of the new-look is explained here.
With big clubs set to meet earlier in the competition than usual, expect seriously entertaining football from start to finish.
