Norway rounded off their UEFA Women’s Euros 2025 group stage with a perfect three wins, surviving a late Iceland push to edge a pulsating 4-3 win at Arena Thun – but only after being rocked early and rattled late.
The atmosphere was lively, with Norway already assured of progressing and Iceland out of contention. Despite the seeming mismatch, the game unfolded like a knockout thriller — seven goals, red card, and a penalty drama making the alpine backdrop feel electrifying.
Iceland struck first in the 6th minute, when Sveindís Jónsdóttir reacted fastest to convert Alexandra Jóhannsdóttir’s header that spilled off the post, handing the visitors an early lead.
Norway responded swiftly. By the 15th minute, Signe Gaupset volleyed home from a corner rebound to level scores, before striking again in the 26th minute with a crisp finish from outside the area
The home side took control after the break, with Frida Maanum converting in the 49th minute and again in the 76th, the latter assisted by Gaupset’s deft pass.
But Iceland refused to fade. Hlín Eiríksdóttir pulled one back with a header in the 84th minute, and deep into stoppage time, Glódís Viggósdóttir calmly converted a penalty following a red card for Marit Bratberg Lund — cutting it to 4-3. Norway held firm in the final seconds to preserve their perfect record.
