Norway clinched a 2‑1 victory over Finland on Sunday in Sion, sealing top spot in Group A at the UEFA Women’s Euros 2025 and advancing to the quarter-finals with a game to spare. Under hot conditions and amid lively support, Hege Riise’s side edged past a spirited Finnish team, their second consecutive win setting a commanding tone.
The match burst into life just three minutes in when Caroline Graham Hansen’s teasing cross from the right was inadvertently diverted into her own net by Finland defender Eva Nyström — an early own goal that handed Norway the lead. Yet Finland responded with purpose, dominating possession and pushing forward until Oona Sevenius capitalised on a slick pass from Oona Sirén to level in the 32nd minute, finishing calmly from the edge of the box.
The rest of the half saw Finland maintain control, spurning opportunities and forcing Norway into deeper defensive shape. But Norway’s composure returned after the interval as they chased the decisive blow. That moment came in the 84th minute, when Graham Hansen, after weaving through multiple defenders, unleashed a deft chip that glanced in off the far post—a moment of individual brilliance that sealed the victory.
Despite Finland’s superior possession (58%) and attempts on target (6 vs 3), they could not turn their control into a winner.
