Group C: Sweden cruise past Poland 3-0 to head into the quarters

Sweden secured their spot in the UEFA Women’s Euros 2025 quarter-finals with a commanding 3‑0 victory over Poland in Lucerne on Tuesday evening, sweeping aside Group C rivals and eliminating the Poles from the competition.

Under clear skies at Allmend Stadion, a vocal Swedish contingent cheered each precise cross and clinical finish. Poland, on the back of a 2‑0 loss to Germany, showed flashes of promise, but couldn’t stem a dominant Swedish display.

Sweden struck first in the 28th minute as captain Kosovare Asllani swung in a fine cross that Stina Blackstenius nodded home from close range. The strike followed relentless pressure down the wings – Sweden’s aerial strategy was evident early.

Seven minutes after the break, Kosovare Asllani ghosted into the box to head in Johanna Rytting Kaneryd’s delivery, doubling her side’s advantage. The captain’s composed finish underlined Sweden’s growing control.

By the 77th minute, Sweden had made the result emphatically their own as substitute Lina Hurtig rose to head home from a corner, sealing a confidence-boosting win.

Sweden now head to Zurich to face Germany, with both sides eyeing top spot in Group C – a match that could tilt the knockout path. Poland wrap up their group stage against Denmark, aiming for pride and a positive finale, but with their tournament hopes already dashed.
